What formats does osm2cdr support?

140+ formats in total, by category. CAD: DWG, DXF, CDR, AI, EPS, PDF, KOMPAS. GIS: GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoPackage, KML, KMZ, GPX, WKT, CSV, MapInfo TAB/MIF, GML. Raster and tiles: SVG, PNG, JPEG, GeoTIFF, COG, MBTiles, PMTiles. 3D and BIM: OBJ, glTF, STL, FBX, COLLADA, IFC, CityJSON, 3D Tiles, CityGML, USD. Navigation and special: Garmin IMG, OsmAnd OBF, TomTom OV2, OpenDRIVE, SUMO, Lanelet2, DST, G-code and more. Most formats are available without registration during Open Beta; 3D/BIM, navigation and cloud-native formats are part of paid plans, and some are still in development.

How long does export take?

Most exports finish in under a minute — the time depends on the area size and format complexity. A small plot is exported in seconds, while a whole city or region usually takes a few minutes. Progress is shown right in the interface, and you can close the tab and come back to the ready file.

Can I use the service via API?

Yes. The REST API is open during Open Beta: POST /api/render accepts area coordinates and a format, GET /api/status/{task_id} tracks progress, and GET /api/formats returns the list of formats. There is batch export, access keys and webhook notifications. Full documentation is at /api/docs. Read more: API quickstart.

Where does the map data come from? How current is it?

Every map is built from OpenStreetMap data — the largest open geodata database, contributed to by millions of people worldwide. We keep a full planetary copy and update it monthly, so new streets, buildings and objects show up in exports quickly.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. During Open Beta all 140+ formats are completely free — with no area limits and no sign-up. When we introduce paid plans, we will give at least 30 days' notice.

License for using exported maps?

OpenStreetMap data is distributed under the open ODbL license. You can use the exported maps in commercial and personal projects, but public use requires attribution: «© OpenStreetMap contributors». This is a requirement of OSM itself, not of our service. More on open-data licenses.

Is there a limit on the export area size?

During Open Beta there is no area limit — you can export anything from a single yard to a whole city or region. Very large areas just take longer to render, but we never refuse an export.

Can I download a ready-made map of a city or country?

Yes. The map catalog already holds 2.9 million cities, regions and countries — find the place you need and download a ready-made file without selecting an area by hand. And if you need a specific spot, you can outline it on the map yourself.

Which format should I choose for AutoCAD, CorelDRAW, QGIS or 3D printing?

For AutoCAD and engineering CAD, DWG and DXF are the right fit. For CorelDRAW and graphics — CDR, AI, SVG. For GIS analysis in QGIS and ArcGIS — GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoPackage. For 3D printing and modeling — STL, OBJ, glTF. Guide: contours & DXF for surveyors.

How does “select an area” differ from a “ready-made map”?

“Select an area” — you draw a rectangle or polygon on the map yourself and get exactly the spot you need. A “ready-made map” from the catalog is an already-prepared map of a whole city or country based on its administrative boundaries. The first option is more flexible, the second is faster when you need the entire settlement.

Are projections and coordinate systems supported?

Yes. 165 coordinate systems and projections are available — from the familiar WGS 84 (EPSG:4326) and Web Mercator (EPSG:3857) to national and local CRS. You can pick the projection you need in the builder before export. More on UTM and local zones.

Can I configure the map's layers, style and detail?

Yes. In the map builder you can turn individual layers on or off (roads, buildings, water, greenery, POIs), choose one of 20 styles and set the detail level — from schematic to detailed. Street and object labels are rendered in the language you need.

Maps are free, with no limits

Most of the 140+ export formats, all 20 map styles, all 165 coordinate systems — no registration, no daily export limit, no area cap, no watermark. There is no end date for Open Beta — the price list is already published on the Pricing page, but no payment is taken for maps. When we introduce paid tiers for maps, you will receive at least 30 days notice by email and on this site. There is one exception — a cadastral order: the data source (NSPD) sharply limited the flow of requests we may send, the queue grew faster than it was served, and we chose to let you get the parcel right away. It costs the same as one map (the price is on the Pricing page) and needs you signed in: you pay once per parcel, downloading it again is free, and bonus money from your balance works for this too.
