OruxMaps is an offline Android navigation app (hiking, outdoors). We ship a ZIP archive containing the SQLite tiles database (.otrk2.db) and the calibration XML (.otrk2.xml) — both files are required side-by-side on the device. Beta: one map layer, up to 50 000 tiles.

About OruxMaps Format
OruxMaps is a free Android app for offline navigation, popular with hikers, cyclists and orienteering enthusiasts. It stores its maps as a pair of files: an SQLite database with tiles, .otrk2.db, and a calibration XML, .otrk2.xml, which records which piece of ground the tiles correspond to.
The export comes in handy when there is no signal in the hiking area and you need exactly your section and your map style. The map appears in the app's list of offline sources and works in airplane mode — along with track recording and waypoint navigation.
You download a ZIP archive with both files: they have to be unpacked side by side, into a separate folder inside OruxMaps/mapfiles — on their own they are useless, the XML without the database will not find any tiles, and the database without the XML will not land in its place. The export is marked as beta: one map layer of up to 50,000 tiles is built.

Who Uses OruxMaps Maps
How to Export OruxMaps
How to Open After Export
- OruxMaps (Android) — unpack the archive into the OruxMaps/mapfiles/OSM2CDR/ folder on the device, then open the map list in the app and refresh it: the new map appears among the offline sources.
- A file manager or a USB cable — move the whole unpacked folder over; make sure the .otrk2.db and .otrk2.xml stay together and share the same name.
- DB Browser for SQLite — if in doubt, open the database on a computer and check that the tiles were written.
- If the app does not see the map — check the path: the files must sit in a nested folder inside mapfiles, not at its root, and the map list has to be refreshed explicitly.
