How to use DWF for Progresul
- Autodesk Design Review — try opening the file first thing: that shows right away whether it suits your viewer.
- Any archiver — rename the extension to .zip and unpack it: inside are manifest.xml and the graphic section, and the structure is easy to study by eye.
- Labels — check the street names and house numbers: they are stored as text, not as a picture, and read as such in the viewer.

FAQ: DWF for Progresul
Is this a true binary DWF?
Yes. The package is a DWF 6 ePlot: the ASCII version prefix, a ZIP with the manifest and the sheet descriptor, and graphics as a binary W2D opcode stream. The file opens in Autodesk Design Review and attaches as an underlay in AutoCAD.
What is inside a DWF file?
A ZIP behind a version prefix: manifest.xml describes the sections, the descriptor sets the sheet and the printable area, and the .w2d stream holds the map layers — polylines, polygons and text labels, each layer in its own color.
Are labels and styling preserved?
Labels yes: street names and house numbers are written as Unicode text, so Cyrillic and Arabic script come through natively. Styling is simple: each layer has its own color, background areas are filled, buildings and roads are outlined.
What should I do if my viewer does not open the file?
Start with the native viewer — Autodesk Design Review. The package is a DWF 6 ePlot, and our own tests parse the package and its W2D stream back with an independent reader, so a refusal from third-party software is worth reporting to us: name the program and its version and we will look into it.
What coordinates is the geometry written in?
In the logical units of the sheet: the map is fitted to A3 with its proportions kept, at 12,000 units per inch. This is a sheet for viewing and printing, not a metric drawing: if you need to measure with a ruler, take DWG or DXF, where a metric projection is chosen.
