FAQ: X3D for Tabasco

Can I open it in a browser?

Yes, via X3DOM or H-Anim library. X3D is an ISO web standard.

Why choose over glTF?

X3D is an ISO standard with rich features, glTF is more lightweight for web apps.

Where does the building height come from?

From the height tag, if it is there; otherwise from the number of floors at 3 meters each, then from a typical height for that type of development, and as a last resort 9 meters. Roofs are flat — this is the LOD1 level of detail.

Are there textures and interiors?

No. Buildings are empty shells with a solid color by type of development: facade textures, windows and interior spaces do not exist in OpenStreetMap data.

How large an area can I take?

Up to 1500 km². Over a larger area extruding the development gives millions of polygons, and the service refuses right away rather than after a long render.
