How to use Tactile SVG for Ibia
- Inkscape (free) — open the .svg, check that the sheet is A4 and the scale is 100%, move apart overlapping labels if needed and remove unnecessary objects.
- An ordinary laser or inkjet printer plus microcapsule paper (Swell Paper, Zychem, Tactile Image Paper) — printing in black on such paper works as on ordinary paper.
- A heat processor — Zychem ZyFuse, Swell Form Machine or PIAF Tactile Image Maker: the sheet is run through the heating, the black areas swell up and become relief.

FAQ: Tactile SVG for Ibia
How do I print a tactile map?
Print the SVG on a regular printer onto microcapsule paper (Swell Paper), then pass through a heat processor.
What map size works best?
A4 or A3 is recommended. Larger maps lose clarity of tactile elements.
Is Braille supported?
Yes, street and feature labels are automatically converted to Braille (Grade 1).
How do the layers differ by touch?
Roads are solid lines, buildings are cross hatching, water is diagonal hatching, green zones are dots. In the bottom right corner of the sheet a tactile legend is added automatically: a sample of each texture with a Braille caption.
Which language do the Braille captions come out in?
In the language the object is labelled with in OpenStreetMap: Latin and Cyrillic are supported, and each letter is converted into its own Braille cell (uncontracted writing). Characters with no match stay as they are — it is worth checking them by eye before printing.
