How to use Alembic for Edrayo
- Blender — File → Import → Alembic (.abc); the scene arrives as a set of meshes, which are convenient to gather into a collection right away.
- Houdini — a File or Alembic node in the geometry context; from there the buildings can be split into groups and fed into your own procedures.
- Maya — Cache → Alembic Cache → Import Alembic; for large scenes choose the import as gpuCache so the viewport does not sag.

FAQ: Alembic for Edrayo
Is it suitable for animation?
Yes, Alembic was designed for animation and VFX. Static geometry is also supported.
Can I open it in Blender?
Yes, Blender supports Alembic import via File > Import > Alembic.
Is there animation in the file?
No. This is static geometry written on a single frame — Alembic is simply used as an exchange container. You will animate the camera and the objects in your own package.
How is the archive structured?
Every building is a separate polygonal mesh inside one archive, plus a flat base under the scene. That split lets you select and process buildings individually.
What coordinates does the scene arrive in?
In meters, centered on the middle of the selected area. There is no geographic referencing in the file — if you need coordinates, take GIS formats.
