About IFC

Map of East Timor in IFC — an export of real OpenStreetMap data for the selected area.

Export buildings to IFC4 format for BIM software. Creates full IfcProject / IfcSite / IfcBuilding hierarchy with extruded block geometry and properties (height, storeys, type). The file contains 3D buildings only: roads, water and landuse are not part of the IFC — use DWG or DXF for those.

Which layers are in the file

The set of layers depends on the selected area.

What this file will not contain

In IFC for East Timor the following will not travel: 9 764 km of roads, 246 water features, 366 km² of green areas, 3 036 points of interest — the format prints solid volumes extruded from building outlines, and other layers are not part of the model.

File size

The expected size of the IFC file for East Timor is about 71 KB; the exact size depends on the chosen layers and area.

IFC file passport

Estimated from the place's OSM data; exact figures are in the file after the build.

  • Triangles in the model (estimated): ≈ 12
  • Model size at 1:5 000: 76 736 × 33 087 mm

Losses: not in the file: Buildings 25 970.

Build recipe: IFC4: each building is an IfcBuilding with a solid body and an OSM property set (type, height, levels, name, address); frame 384 × 165 km.

How to use IFC for East Timor

  1. Autodesk Revit — Insert → Link IFC, so the surroundings stay an underlay and do not mix with your own model.
  2. ArchiCAD — File → Interoperability → Merge IFC; at import, choose a translation profile that preserves object properties.
  3. BlenderBIM or Bonsai (free) — open the file and inspect the IFC tree, the geometry and the property sets, without buying anything.

How to open the IFC model: it is a single .ifc file, no archive to unpack. Units: metres. The model contains buildings only (IfcBuilding, bodies extruded to their height); roads, water and terrain are not in IFC — order DXF/DWG for those. Opens in Bonsai (BlenderBIM), FreeCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, BIMvision. If the screen looks empty after opening, the file is not empty: use Zoom to fit.
