About KOMPAS
Map of Béidé in KOMPAS — an export of real OpenStreetMap data for the selected area.
A flat 2D DXF drawing of an OpenStreetMap base plan for the Russian CAD system KOMPAS — no volume: it opens in KOMPAS-Graphic or KOMPAS-3D as a drawing. The file is prepared for KOMPAS: version R2007 and newer with UTF-8 encoding (Russian layer names and labels read correctly), metric units, and layers for roads, buildings, water, vegetation, points of interest and boundaries. KOMPAS opens such a file with its standard command and saves it into its own .cdw or .frw in one step.
Which layers are in the file
The set of layers depends on the selected area.
File size
The expected size of the KOMPAS file for Béidé is about 524 KB; the exact size depends on the chosen layers and area.

How to use KOMPAS for Béidé
- KOMPAS-Graphic or KOMPAS-3D, including LT and Home — File → Open, pick the DXF file (it opens as a drawing); in the import dialog keep the metric units, then Save As .cdw or .frw.
- Checking the layers — in the document manager switch off everything unnecessary, leaving only the base plan you need, and lock it against accidental edits.
- Inserting into your own drawing — rather than copying the objects, it is handier to insert the map as an external fragment so it does not mix with your geometry.
How to open the drawing: units are metres (projected coordinates, not degrees). If the screen is empty after opening, the file is not empty: use Zoom Extents (show all; in AutoCAD, the ZOOM → E command or a double click of the mouse wheel).

FAQ: KOMPAS for Béidé
What KOMPAS version is supported?
The flat DXF drawing opens in KOMPAS-Graphic and KOMPAS-3D version 18 and later — as a drawing, with no volume.
Can I convert to DWG?
Yes, KOMPAS-3D can export CDW to DWG/DXF. We also export to DWG directly.
Are layers preserved?
Yes, the map is split into layers: roads, buildings, water, vegetation, POI, boundaries.
Why do I download a DXF instead of a .cdw?
The proprietary binary KOMPAS format is closed and there is no open converter for writing it, so the drawing is delivered as DXF prepared for KOMPAS: version R2007 and newer, UTF-8, metric units, Russian layer names. KOMPAS opens such a file as a matter of course and saves it into .cdw or .frw with a single command, and the content of the drawing does not change in the process.
What should I do if a ZIP archive arrived?
That happens when a specific coordinate system was chosen at export time: the archive holds the drawing and a .prj file describing the projection. Unpack the archive and open the drawing as usual; the .prj will come in handy if the data travels onward into a GIS.
