.xodrAbout OpenDRIVE
Map of Devsu in OpenDRIVE — an export of real OpenStreetMap data for the selected area.
OpenDRIVE is the ASAM standard for road network description in autonomous driving. It contains road geometry, lanes, junctions, signals, and road markings. Used in CARLA, VTD, RoadRunner simulators and for ADAS testing.

How to use OpenDRIVE for Devsu
- CARLA — put the .xodr into the project and launch it in standalone OpenDRIVE mode: the simulator generates the three-dimensional scene from the road description itself.
- esmini — quick viewing and checking: the odrviewer utility opens the file and shows lanes and junctions without building a full scene.
- MATLAB RoadRunner — import the road network and refine it by hand: add markings, signs, an elevation profile, ramps.

FAQ: OpenDRIVE for Devsu
What is OpenDRIVE?
OpenDRIVE is an open ASAM standard for road network description used in autonomous driving simulators.
Which simulators support it?
CARLA, VTD, esmini, RoadRunner, and any ASAM OpenDRIVE 1.7 compatible tool.
Is this an HD map of survey grade?
No. The geometry is taken from OpenStreetMap, the road plan is composed of straight segments, and lane widths and speeds are substituted by road type. For a scenario prototype and for running algorithms in that is enough; for certification testing you need a map of survey accuracy.
Is there relief and an elevation profile?
No, the roads are flat: no elevation profile is built in the export. If relief matters, it is added later in RoadRunner or in your own pipeline.
How do junctions and traffic lights appear?
A junction is created where three or more road ends come together within a five-meter radius — links are written between the incoming roads. Traffic lights are taken from highway=traffic_signals points and written as signals of the corresponding road.
