Laser cut city map: a clean SVG of any place

Pick a city, a neighbourhood or a single block and get a vector SVG made for the laser: plain vector paths, no raster background, no gradients. The preset uses the monochrome style and the clean fill, so the file contains only what the laser needs to cut or engrave.

Inside the file every feature class is its own named group: buildings, roads and water. Building footprints and water bodies are closed polygons, ready to cut or fill-engrave. Roads are stroked centerlines whose stroke width is set by road class (wider for main roads): engrave or score them as lines, or, to cut them, convert the strokes to outlines first (Path > Stroke to Path in Inkscape, Object > Path > Outline Stroke in Illustrator).

The drawing is in true scale and the document size is set in millimetres, so the map lands on the bed at the size you ordered. The groups are SVG <g> elements with ids, which Inkscape, Illustrator and CorelDRAW show as layers. LightBurn and the Glowforge app split a job by line colour, not by group, and the monochrome style draws everything in one colour: give each group its own colour in your editor (or import the groups one by one) to get separate cut and engrave settings.

Map data comes from OpenStreetMap and is licensed under the ODbL: you may use the file in commercial products as long as you credit "(c) OpenStreetMap contributors". The preview demo is free; the full file is paid, and the price is shown before checkout. Any place on Earth works, from a single block to a whole city.

Frequently asked questions

Which laser software can open the SVG?

Any program that imports SVG, including LightBurn, the Glowforge app, Illustrator, Inkscape and CorelDRAW. The file is a standard SVG with named groups.

Can I cut and engrave in one job?

Yes. Buildings, roads and water are separate groups; give each group its own colour, and LightBurn or the Glowforge app will let you set cut for one colour and engrave or score for the others.

What size will the map be?

The SVG is drawn in true scale with the page size in millimetres; you can still scale it freely in your laser software.

Is the demo free?

Yes, the preview demo of any area is free. The full file is paid and the price depends on the area size.
