SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) on avoimen lähdekoodin liikennesimulaattori. .net.xml-muoto kuvaa tieverkot kaistoineen, risteyksineen ja yhteyksineen. Käytössä liikenteen mallinnukseen, liikennevalojen optimointiin ja liikennesuunnitteluun.

Tietoa SUMO-muodosta
SUMO is an open traffic simulator that models every car separately. People use it to see what happens to a district if a street is closed, a lane is added or the traffic light phases are changed. The road network is described by an XML file: street edges, junction nodes, lanes and the connections between them.
Usually the network is obtained from OpenStreetMap with a separate utility, and that means fiddling with settings and cleaning the data. Our export hands you a ready network for the chosen area right away — convenient for a study assignment, a quick test of a hypothesis or a demonstration.
What is in the archive: the road network file and a configuration that is enough to launch a simulation. The streets are taken from OSM together with the road type, the number of lanes (up to eight) and the permitted speed by class; the coordinates are converted from latitude and longitude into local meters.
What the network does not have: traffic light programs and travel demand. Traffic light logic is set in SUMO separately, and vehicle routes are generated with the standard utilities — without them the simulation will start, but nobody will drive down the streets.
Format specifications
- Open standard
- 2D only
- Lossless (no quality loss)
- Stores feature attributes
- Output: 2 files in archive
- Eclipse SUMO traffic-simulation network XML (ZIP with network.net.xml + simulation.sumocfg). Ready to open in SUMO-GUI.
Ketkä käyttävät SUMO-karttoja
Näin viet kartan muotoon SUMO
Kuinka avata viennin jälkeen
- Eclipse SUMO (free) — unpack the archive and open the configuration in sumo-gui: the network will be drawn, and from there the simulation starts with a button.
- netedit — the network editor from the SUMO package: fix junction geometry, add a lane, assign a traffic light.
- Travel demand — generate routes with the randomTrips or duarouter utilities and connect the route file in the configuration, otherwise the streets will stay empty.
- TraCI (Python) — control the simulation from a script: collect statistics, change phases on the fly, embed SUMO into your own experiment.
- netconvert — if junction geometry looks odd, the network can be rebuilt and checked with this utility from the SUMO package.
