Inside Illustrator the name arrives split into separate fully transparent letters, so it never shows up as a readable name in the Layers panel. Are layers preserved?
No native Illustrator layers: the file is written by the PDF engine and arrives as a single artboard. Objects are easy to isolate with Select Same (fill or stroke) and then move onto your own layers.
