Over het Minecraft .schem-formaat
A .schem schematic (Sponge Schematic v2) is a piece of a Minecraft world saved as a separate file: a three-dimensional grid of blocks with a palette, packed into NBT and compressed with GZip. Such files are pasted into a world by mods and plugins — WorldEdit with the //schem load command, Litematica as a hologram guide for building by hand.
Exporting an OSM map into a schematic is what you need when you want a real city in the game without laying blocks by hand: a school geography project, recreating your home neighbourhood on a server, a video or a post about "my city in Minecraft". Buildings, roads and water are carried over at once, and the details are left for you to finish by hand.
The exporter rasterizes the selected area into a voxel grid: buildings are extruded upward by height tags (height, building:levels, otherwise a neutral value), and the type of development decides the block — residential houses from planks, offices from quartz, industry from iron, temples from stone brick. Roads are laid with grey concrete, water with blue glass. The grid is limited to 256 blocks along each axis, and the default scale is 2 meters per block, that is roughly 512x512 meters of terrain per schematic.

Minecraft .schem exporteren
Openen na de export
- WorldEdit (Java Edition, a server or single-player with Fabric/Forge) — put the file into the config/worldedit/schematics folder (on a server, plugins/WorldEdit/schematics), then //schem load name and //paste.
- Litematica — put the .schem into the schematics folder and load it as a projection: the build appears as a semi-transparent guide and the blocks are placed by hand in survival.
- Amulet Editor — open the schematic outside the game, look it over, swap the palette blocks for your own and save it back.
- Before pasting — clear the site and stand at the right spot: //paste places the schematic from the player's position and is undone with //undo.
