OSM2CDR and CADmapper: a comparison by the numbers
Both services do the same thing: turn a map into a file for a drafting program. Below are the figures from both sides and our own gaps. The CADmapper data was taken from its pages on 2026-09-21; the source addresses are listed at the end of the page.

What we do not have
- We have no native .3dm (Rhino). For SketchUp we ship COLLADA .dae (File — Import) rather than .skp: there is no .skp writer without the proprietary SDK, and we did not disguise the .dae as one.
- There is no roof shape (LoD2): buildings are extruded by height and floor count, without roof planes.
- There is no tree layer derived from satellite imagery: greenery comes from OpenStreetMap, that is, from what mappers have drawn.
What their site shows
- The service is owned by Protomaps LLC d/b/a Cadmapper (the /terms page).
- The home page names two area figures: up to 1 km2 free and up to 100 km2 for a fee; the figures of the paid tier are not named there.
- The buttons «Try it now» and «Create File» lead to /pro/, and /pro/ responds with a redirect to /pro/login/: a guest without an account does not see the settings screen or the price.
- Without an account there is a list of ready-made files for 241 cities: a click on the name downloads a DXF (34 MB for Moscow).
- There are three formats: DXF, 3DM, SKP.
- The data licence is stated directly: /terms and the FAQ say the files are distributed under ODbL.
Data licence: ODbL
Our files are built from OpenStreetMap data. The OpenStreetMap database is released under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0, and its cartography under CC BY-SA 2.0.
ODbL permits commercial use: the file may go into a project, into print and into sale. Two conditions apply. First, credit the source: «© OpenStreetMap contributors». Second, if you publish a modified or extended DATABASE, it must be released under the same terms; this does not extend to a drawing in which the map became a background.
We hand the attribution over with the file: the line «© OpenStreetMap contributors» goes into the sheet caption and into the export metadata, and for terrain the elevation source is printed next to it. Nothing has to be added by hand — it is enough to keep that line visible.
