When you need EPS
The main scenario is simple: you already have a OpenStreetMap file — upload it and osm2cdr returns EPS, ready to use in a dedicated program (editing, printing, analysis, embedding in a project). The alternative is for when you have no file at hand or need a fresh map of an area: the same EPS is then built straight from up-to-date OpenStreetMap data for your chosen area, split into layers for buildings, roads, water and features.

Either way the data model changes. The first source is connected OpenStreetMap geodata, so no intermediate OpenStreetMap file is needed. The map lands in EPS as styled vector graphics: objects stay editable curves and layers, ready for print and design. OSM attribute tables are not carried over — EPS holds geometry and style, not a database.
