SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is the perfect format for designers. Every map object is a separate vector element that you can recolor, remove, or transform.

Workflow

  1. Select area — highlight a district on osm2cdr.ru. For design, 1-5 km² with "maximum" detail is usually sufficient.
  2. Choose style — "minimal" gives a clean base. "Blueprint" provides a drafting look. "Neon" is bright on a dark background.
  3. Export — download the SVG file.
  4. Edit — open in Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, or Affinity Designer. Layers are available for editing.

Project Ideas

  • City posters — minimalist black-and-white maps as art objects.
  • Wedding invitations — a map of the venue location.
  • Corporate maps — branded maps with company colors for brochures and websites.
  • Web animations — interactive SVG maps with hover effects.

SVG Optimization

For large areas, SVG files can be tens of megabytes:

  • Reduce detail level to "city" or "regional" for overview maps.
  • Remove unnecessary layers in your editor.
  • For web publishing, use SVGO — 30-60% compression.
